Holi Festival

The very next day people can be very excited when it is actually time to play colors. Shops and offices are closed for the day and people get all the time to be crazy and weird. The bright colors of Gulzal and Abir fill the air and the people get involved in putting colored water on each other. Kids enjoy special splendor with each other with their pitchworks and throwing water balloons and passers-by. Women and senior citizens create groups which are called tollis and run in colonies – apply colors and exchange congratulations. Dance on the thief’s drops, songs and mouthwaters are other attractions of the day of Holi.

Holika Dahan

On the eve of Holi, which is called small or small holi, people gather at important intersections and burn huge bonfires, the festival is called Holika Dahan. This tradition is followed in Gujarat and also in Orisa. To give greatness to Agni, the god of fire, gram and crop are also offered to fire with all the humility. The ashes from this bonfire are also considered sacred and people put it on their forehead. People believe that ash protects them from bad forces.
